Metro New York and New Jersey: NYS Thruway (I-87) to Exit 24 (Albany) Northway (I-87) to Exit 30. Follow Rt. 9N two miles to Rt. 73 and continue 28 miles to Lake Placid.
Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. (points south): NJ Turnpike, connect with Garden State Parkway to NYS Thruway I-87. Then use directions above "From Metro NY and NJ area.
Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse (points midwest): I-90 (NYS Thruway) to Syracuse I-81 Exit 36. Follow I-81 north to Watertown, then east on Rt. 3 to Saranac Lake. Take Rt. 86 east to Lake Placid.
Boston, Springfield, Hartford: I-90 west (Mass. Turnpike) in Albany, Northway (I-87) to Exit 30 and then use the final directions above: "From Metro NY..."
Ottawa: Routes south to Cornwall Bridge. Pick up Rt. 37 east to Malone. Follow Rt. 30 south to Paul Smiths and pick up Rt. 192. Follow Rt. 192 to Rt. 86 and continue to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.
Toronto: 401 east to Cornwall Bridge, then use final directions above "From Ottawa".
Montreal: Rt. 15 So. to Champlain crossing, connect with I-87 So. Take Exit 34 west, follow Rt. 9N, then Rt. 86 to Lake Placid.
Lake Placid Airport
The Lake Placid Municipal Airport is about one mile southof the village on Route 73, adjacent to the Show Grounds.
Hours of operation: 9 am- 5 pm daily. 8 am - 8 pm in July& August. Runway: 4,200 feet.
Services: Air Charter flights from most airports, scenic flights, tie down, and repairs. 518-523-2473.
The Adirondack Regional Airport provides the only commercial air service to the Adirondack Park. Located in Lake Clear, 16 miles from Lake Placid, it offers easy access to the entire region. Hertz and Enterprise rental cars are available on site. Commercial flights available through Continental Express: 800-525-0280.
Major Airports
The Lake Placid area is within 2 1/2 hours driving time of three major airports: Albany, New York; Burlington, Vermont; and Montreal, Quebec. All are serviced by major airline carriers and have car rentals available.
