The Market Wins Lake Placid Horse Shows Window Decorating Contest for Record Seventh Time

Lake Placid, New York—July 5, 2006—The Market of ___ Main Street has been selected as the winner of the Lake Placid Horse Shows’ 19^th annual Window Decorating Contest.  This marks a record seventh time that The Market has won the contest after having claimed top honors in 1988, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996 (tie) and 2004.

Held in conjunction with the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows, June 27 – July 9, the decorating contest provides a horse show look for shoppers and strollers in Lake Placid.  The contest combines the charm of the Lake Placid village with equestrian-inspired ingenuity at which shoppers and strollers marvel.

Lake Placid Horse Show Executive Director Lori Martin praised them for their effort.  “The Market has a wonderful tradition of actively participating in the horse show with their window displays.  They have again put together a fabulous window display that really stood out as the best of this year’s many great displays.  They and all the others who participate in the window contest add a nice horse show feel to the Village of Lake Placid and we thank all of our participants for making the two weeks of the horse shows a warm community experience.”

Each summer, Lake Placid village merchants put their best “hoof” forward, creating storefront window displays that exhibit artistic and creative talent for the contest occurring concurrently with the horse shows.  The equestrian theme window displays are always popular with horse show participants, spectators, and shoppers as local businesses welcome the horse show community to town.

Placing second this year was last year’s winner, Adirondack Trading Company of 2512 Main Street.  Zoe Noble of ___ came in third place.  Honorable mention was given to Bookstore Plus and Lake Placid Christmas Company.

As contest winner, The Market receives $100 plus a blue ribbon and also has its name engraved on the perpetual plaque that is displayed in the VIP Lounge during the horse shows and in the horse show office throughout the rest of the year.  The runners-up each receive a commemorative T-shirt and a horse show ribbon.  Both Honorable Mentions are also awarded.
